This study was undertaken to find out the Cytotoxicity, Antioxidant & Antimicrobial activity of
the different parts of Polygonum hydropiper L, leaf of Clerodendrum viscosum, Hibiscus rosasinensis
& locally cultivated fungus Auricularia auricular. Disc diffusion technique was used
against one Gram positive and four Gram negative bacteria and two fungus. But they did not
show any zone of inhibition against these micro-organisms up to the concentration of 250
J.iWJ.1L and 500 JlgIMl. The Brine shrimp lethality bioassay method was used to detennine the
cytotoxicity activities. By using Biostate 2008 (software) detennined the LCso values. On the
other hand, the antioxidant activity was investigated by DPPH radical scavenging assay result
that from all sample Polygonum hydropiper leaf ethyl acetate extract had potent antioxidant
activity. Thin layer chonnatographic technique was used to get infonnation about the
phytochemicals of the plant extracts. |
