Abstract:
The project involved the analysis and design of a four-story RCC school building at Dhorenda, Savar,
Dhaka, for which we created the structural components (beam, column, slab, and foundations). Our
building has a total area of 7.68 Katha. The site is located in Savar upazila near Dhaka. It is located about
12 meters South-East from the Dhaka-Aricha national highway. And about 100 meters South-East of
Nabinagor market. The principal objective of this venture is to develop a 4 story school building to
increase school capacity and accommodate more facilities for students. In order to do that we need to
demolish the old tin shed building and build the RCC building. We have followed the BNBC Code and
ACI 318 when designing this project. Despite its uneven design, the structure has been thoroughly
analyzed for wind and seismic resistance, as required. Moreover we have provided alternative floor plans
for the project and we have analyzed them both in terms of both serviceability and safety performance
and chose the optimum design for the project. And after that we have designed the reinforcement for the
beam, slabs, columns, and foundations. We thoroughly evaluated the soil for this project and discovered
that it had a high bearing capacity, therefore we developed a shallow foundation for it. A full BOQ was
prepared at the end of the report to provide a clear understanding of the project's cost.
