Abstract:
In the present study an effort has been made to formulate 6
dilcofenac sR with Methocel K- 15MCR and Methocel
lOOLVCR polymer to sustain the release of Diclofenac r2H
from Diclofenac sustained release tablet Different ratio of
Methocel K- 15MCR and Methocel r ooLVCR as I :5,
3:4,2:5,4:3,3:3,3:5 of total weight of tablet matrix, were used to
prepare sustained release tablet matrix by direct compression
The dissolution study of the tablet matrices of different
formulations were carried out in the gastric medium (pH r.3)
for first two hours and then in the intestinal medium (pH 6.g)
for 10 hours using usp dissolution apparatus. From the release
pattern we observed that 2:5 and 3:5 of Methocel K_l5MCR
and Methocel lOOLVCR showed the desired sustained release
by direct compression method. The drug release patterns were
simulated in different kinetic orders such as Zero order, First
order and Higuchi release kinetics to assess the release
mechanism. From the study we observed that first order was the
predominant release mechanism than higuchi and. zero order
kinetics- The physicar criterion of formula(F-3 and F-6) were
evaluated bulk density, compressibility index, total porosity,
angle of repose, drug contain for granules hardness, friability,
thickness, weight variation test, drug content of finished
product.
